Dental bridges, dental crowns and dental implants: see overview of key info.
Discover the benefits of restorative dental care - dental crowns, dental bridges and dental implants - on your smile.
If you’ve never had restorative dental work done, you may be hesitant to try. Once you read the specifics, though, you’ll probably change your mind.
Dental health care technique # 1: dental crowns
Dental crowns are shaped like a natural tooth and they cover teeth, which strengthens them and improves their appearance. They are usually recommended to restore a cracked or otherwise weak tooth; cover a tooth with an especially large filling; to complete a dental implant; or to securely hold bridges. Crowns can be made of ceramic, metal or resin and are necessary for teeth with nerves removed through root canals.
Dental health care technique # 2: dental bridges
Dental bridges are false teeth that replace a person’s missing teeth. With a fixed bridge, crowns are placed on either side of the bridges to hold them in place; a person cannot remove a fixed bridge from his or her mouth. Another option is a removable bridge, which is clamped into place to replace lost teeth. Removable bridges are sometimes made of plastic.
Dental health care technique # 3: dental implants
Dental implants are artificial replacements used to solve tooth loss issues and are a fixed non-removable solution to tooth replacement. Implants can also support a dental bridge or certain types of dentures. Newer mini implants have increased the scope of people who are good candidates for the procedure.
